The pioneering fusion group Sixun celebrates 40 years of boundary-breaking creativity with an explosive performance at La Cigale in Paris. First emerging in 1984, the French ensemble features a legendary lineup including bassist Michel Alibo, drummer Paco Séry, guitarist Louis Winsberg, saxophonist Alain Debiossat, keyboardist Jean-Pierre Como, and percussionist Stéphane Edouard. Inspired by the exuberant energy of Weather Report, Sixun masterfully draws on African and Caribbean rhythms to create a unique, multicultural discography. The concert opens with the expertly woven melodies of Very Sixun Trip, enhanced by striking visual animations that reflect the group's deep musical knowledge. Standout moments include the hypnotic atmosphere of Pygmées and the enchanting Sanza Univers, where the band is joined by a young string ensemble. Anchored by a remarkably tight bass-and-drums tandem, the show culminates in a spectacular explosion of sound driven by Winsberg’s brilliant guitar work."
