"Formed during a spontaneous 2019 jam session in Lyon, the acoustic supergroup Les Égarés features master musicians Vincent Peirani on accordion, Ballaké Sissoko on kora, Vincent Ségal on cello, and Émile Parisien on soprano saxophone. Captured live at the historic Jazz à Vienne festival, the quartet seamlessly weaves a stunning acoustic tapestry of folk, world music, chamber traditions, and jazz. By carving out generous space between their notes, the group allows each melody to ring out with profound, reflective resonance. The performance takes a dramatic and exciting turn during their rendition of Orient Express, where Parisien’s soprano saxophone steps outside the modal template to ramp up the energy with bluesy iterations. Demonstrating a stoic reverence for musical tradition alongside a restless curiosity to reinvent, Les Égarés invites the audience to surrender to the beautiful pleasure of getting lost in sound."
