The legendary Jamaican guitarist Ernest Ranglin celebrates his brilliant musical heritage with a star-studded performance at the Jazz à la Villette festival in Paris. Known as a pioneering force who helped shape the evolution of Jamaican music from ska to rocksteady and reggae, Ranglin demonstrates his unique phrasing and effortless approach to improvisation. Sharing the stage at the Cité de la Musique with an All-Star ensemble, he is joined by British saxophone icon Courtney Pine and the legendary Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen. Together, the group weaves a silky, off-beat rhythm section that serves as the perfect canvas for meticulous solos and vibrant improvisations. F eaturing a brilliant dub-infused reimagining of Augustus Pablo's King Tubbys Meets Rockers Uptown and a lyrical guest appearance by Senegalese singer Cheikh Lô, this concert stands as a masterful celebration of open-minded global collaboration.
