Watch the Thelonious Monk Quartet perform for a live audience in this archival 1963 concert. Thelonious Monk was one the most iconic jazz pianists of the 20th century. Known for using sharp dissonances, unique rhythms, and improvised melodies, many of his compositions have gone on to become common jazz standards. In this 1963 concert filmed at Brussel’s Palais des Beaux-Arts, Monk performs with his famous quartet consisting of himself on the piano, Charlie Rouse on tenor sax, John Ore on the double bass, and Frankie Dunlop on Drums. The quartet plays through a classic setlist of Monk’s work. Set List: "Monk’s Dream" (Thelonious Monk) "Drums Solo" (Frankie Dunlop) "Criss Cross" (Thelonious Monk)
