"Carmen," directed by Andrew Margetson, captures the electric energy of flamenco on the backstreets of Sevilla with rising star Carmen Avilés.
Shot on location in the streets of Sevilla and a local housing project, Avilés brings contemporary edge to a centuries-old art form. Dressed casually in a tracksuit, Carmen transforms ordinary spaces into stages, showing how tradition and modernity can collide in mesmerizing movement.
"Carmen" is the latest in Margetson’s acclaimed dance portrait series, following past SFDFF selections like "Isolation" and "Lil Buck with Icons of Modern Art."
