Step through the doors of Casa Azul in Mexico City, where art and revolution once passionately intertwined. Drawing from unseen film fragments and intimate archival material, director Xavier Villetard reconstructs the charged world of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, their home alive with artistic ferment, emotional volatility, and the restless presence of exiles and visionaries. This documentary traces how Kahlo and Rivera transformed private pain into radical expression. As Leon Trotsky seeks asylum and André Breton arrives in pursuit of “true surrealism,” Casa Azul becomes both a haven and a crucible, where manifestos were forged, loyalties fractured, and creativity burned at the edges of ideology and desire. Villetard honors a legacy shaped not only in brushstrokes and murals but in the walls of a house that still pulses with rebellion, longing, and fierce, unrelenting beauty.
