Immerse yourself in the magic as Grammy-winning soprano Angel Blue, pianist Sir Stephen Hough, and conductor Sakari Oramo conjure a kaleidoscope of sound spanning centuries, continents, and styles. Hosted by Strictly Come Dancing's Katie Derham and joined by British Tenor Nicky Spence and superstar organist Anna Lapwood, this Last Night of the Proms is full of musical insight. Classical Music's biggest night gets even better with insightful pre-show interviews with Blue and Hough as they reflect on their musical journeys. Blue's velvet-toned Puccini arias soar with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, while Hough brings poetic nuance to the Andante from Saint-Saëns's "Egyptian" Concerto. The evening journeys from Carlos Simon's blues-infused tribute to the Harlem Hellfighters through Grace Williams's whimsical Welsh variations to Charles Ives's anarchic Ivy League sketches, where American innovation dances with European tradition. Walton's ceremonial grandeur, Fauré's impressionist beauty, and Coleridge-Taylor's soulful lyricism complete this eclectic first half, where musical worlds collide in glorious harmony.
